The Ordinary Review

Hey Lovelies!

I hope you all had a fantastic Halloween and Bonfire Night!! Now those two big days are out of the way it means that we can officially start talking about Christmas yaaayyyyyy!!!! I am going to try and get some more reviews out between now and Christmas, hopefully they will help you with your make up purchase decisions, either as a gift for someone else, or as a gift for you ;)

I bought all the products I am reviewing today wayy before my wedding. As its skin care I didn't want to just do a first impression on them, so I wanted to give them a good few weeks before I could give you guys thoughts. I have been trying these guys since 16th October and I am finally ready to give you my verdict!

The Ordinary

The Ordinary is a skin care brand that can be found on numerous beauty websites in the UK. I purchased mine from ASOS, however I recently found out some products are slightly cheaper on Beauty Bay. They are all really reasonably priced, the most expensive item I bought was £8.  All of their products are are free of parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, animal oils, benzalkonium chloride, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury and oxybenzone. They are also completely cruelty free.

I took a picture of my face when I started my regime on the 16th October, I took one before I applied the products then another straight after my first application.

So this was me day one of my foray into Ordinary skincare. I had a couple of small spots and a fair amount of blackheads. My skin is pretty oily so my opinions are based on how it worked for my skin type. Products work differently for everyone so if you have a different skin type to me you will probably get different results :)

The regime I used was as follows:

1. Cleanse and Tone

I used my normal cleanser and toner. I have used these two for well over 4 months now and love them!

2. Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2% 30ml - £6

This product claims to visibly targets uneven tone, textural irregularities and fine lines. It provides a very mild exfoliation at a 10% concentration.
I used this every 3-4 days. It has a strong smell that sometimes makes my eyes feel funny if I apply it too high on my cheeks. I find my skin feels very smooth and clean on the days I use this. I put some drops on a cotton pad and apply in circular motions on my cheeks and forehead.

3. Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion 30ml - £8.00

This product claims to be Supercharged with a high concentration of two ‘next generation retinoids’ (more effective than standard retinoids), this lightweight serum is an antidote to common signs of ageing and targets everything from fine lines and wrinkles to uneven skin tone.
I applied this with the dropper onto the skin around my eyes, and on my forehead. I can't comment on the anti-wrinkle aspect but it does feel lovely, doesn't make my skin feel oily and sinks into the skin really nicely.

4. 100% Plant-Derived Squalane 30ml - £5.50

This product is designed to hydrate the skin. It works brilliantly on my nose as it is super dry there. However it makes the rest of my face feel super oily and greasy. I stopped using this every day as it was making me break out, however I am keeping it for days when my skin is feeling really dry over these next few winter months.

5. Natural Moisturising Factors + HA 30ml - £5

This moisturiser contains Natural Moisturising Factors (NMF). It delivers a direct topical supplement of multiple amino acids, fatty acids, hyaluronic acid and other compounds that are naturally present in skin. It is a non-greasy formula that feels lovely on the skin, a little really goes a long way and it makes my skin feel really plump and healthy.

Overall I have really enjoyed my three weeks using these products, and I will definitely keep most of them in my skin care routine. The only one I won't use all the time is the plant squalane, but that is purely down to my skin type.
The products are all super affordable, and last a really long time. All my bottles have barely gone down, even though I have used them every day. If you can grab ones that are suitable for your skin I highly recommend giving them a go!
My skin feels great, I don't seem to have as many large spots and the products don't break the bank! A winner in my book! This is how my skin is looking as of 06/11/2017.

You can find them on ASOS, Beauty Bay, Cult Beauty and many more. All the prices I have provided are the ones I paid on Asos, but they vary from site to site. This was not a sponsored post, I bought all the products with my own money :)

If there are any products you think I should check out based on my opinion of this brand please let me know via the comments, or grab me on Facebook or Instagram! I am taking part in Blogmas this year so I need 24 post ideas before December! Eeeeek!

I wish you all a week full of great make up days!

Love and Hugs
